My Islam Stories Continue... - What I hated before revert/convert

Assalamualaikum and good day! Today I'm going to talk about more personal stuff. What I hated the most when I am not yet reverted/converted.

Before I reverted to Islam, what I'm scared of is the way people trying to get you to convert to Islam. It is soooo extreme, and it makes me wonder why would they do so. I'll give you one or two example down below:

1. "You MUST convert to Islam, only Islam can bring you to heaven. Other religion will bring you to hell."
2. "You are a kafir, and you will go to hell."
3. Hell is awaiting for you."
4. "Only Islam is true religion, your religion is a false one."
5. "After you convert, you must do this and do that and this and that.. bla bla bla (giving tons of instructions). You must do it if not you will go to hell."

People stop it! This is terrifying! I will not have reverted if I had listened to all of this. Stop scarying people like this. Even if those who are interested in Islam will run away. Of course every believers think that their religion is the true religion, but we must not emphasize it to people who are not yet a Muslim. Let them learn. Show them what makes our religion is the true one. Do not give instructions "must do this, must do that" to people who are not yet reverted. Another point is, you said that if they do not want to embrace Islam they will go to hell, and if after embracing Islam will also go to hell by saying "if you don't do this and do that you will go to hell". You understood me?  People will think that "if I don't revert I will go to hell, after I revert if I mistakenly do wrong things also will go to hell, better off I don't revert, I can enjoy the world before going to hell." See, now you understand why you shouldn't say stuff like that? Rather than talk like that, we can try ways as below:

1. Give them a tafseer of the Quran. Tell them, "I'm not going to ask you to change your religion, but I want you to understand my religion. It is okay if you don't want to read it, but I just want to ask you do not put it at somewhere dirty or somewhere below your feet or so on, you can give it to other Muslims if you really don't want to keep it, just I ask you to respect it for it is my religion's holy scripture.". After that, make a duaa to Allah secretly that Allah will open their heart. Most of the time, they will read one or two page out of curiousness. Who knows if Allah does open their heart to Islam ^^

2. Answer their questions with knowledge, and give them some space to ponder. Let say if they ask you, "Why are you wearing hijab?" Do not merely answer "because my religion ask me to do so." DON'T answer like that, rather give them a knowledgeable answer such as, "Hijab is a way I protect myself, my religion does assk me to wear it, but it is still my choice to wear it. When I wear it I feel safe. You know the men don't look at me with lust. Let see, in Buddhism, the nuns wear a head coverings, in Hinduism the girl also wear head coverings, in Christianity every portrait of Mother Mary is wearing head coverings and the sisters also wear head coverings, it is a symbol of devotion to the religion, so does hijab. It is a symbol of my devotion to my religion. I can choose not to wear it but I choose to wear it. It elevate my status as a pure and chaste person, it protects me from the look of lust from other men, it makes me feel safer, and I don't have to worry about my bad hair day, it was all covered, right? You want to try  it?" Isn't this answer more touching and let them think?

3. Do not ever give instructions of this and that before they revert or convert. Do not say "After revert, must wear hijab, must pray, must fast, bla bla bla" This will only scare them... It does scared me. It feels like a burden to someone who doesn't know and understand Islam yet. Let them learn to love the religion first before asking them to do the obligations. That's what Allah teaches. The first 13 years after Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Allah only reveal verses about faith, piety, eeman, taqwa, believes in Allah, and so on. The first 13 years was to strengthen the faith of the Muslims, then the next 10 years Allah slowly reveal verses about obligations. Why would Allah do that? Because that is human's nature, when our faith is strengthened, then we will be able to obey the obligations whole-heartedly. That is why the companions, the sahabat of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) didn't protest when they were asked to do 5 times daily prayers, give sadaqah, give zakat, fast, wear hijab and so on. Cause they have this strong faith and believes in them towards Allah.

Let  me know, in the comments, if this ever happened to you before, let me know your opinions, and let me know any other suggestions on how to give dakwah to a person who is not yet a Muslim.
